Environment

Green woods

The Ocean seaplanes will be at the forefront in the use of sustainable power systems.  Environmental implications go much further in taking operations off-grid, needing little or no new infrastructure and in relieving pressures on secondary surface transports.

Sustainability with viability

Widespread sustainable Ocean operations are aided by:

  • Seaplanes commanding twice the value per useful seat and per seat-mile than landplanes, this accommodating cost penalties of sustainable power systems.

  • Ocean useful load and cruise efficiency advantages retaining viable payload capability while accommodating weight penalties of sustainable power systems.

Electric powerplant

Carbon-neutral

Oceans are being engineered to accommodate multiple options among electric, hydrogen, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and hybrid power systems.  In doing so, unlike dedicated hydrogen and electric aircraft developments, sustainable Ocean seaplanes will be capable of all missions that fossil-fuel powered aircraft would be capable of.

Removing footprints and de-energizing

Independent of zero-emission power technologies, Ocean seaplanes offer further major environmental advantages in:

  • Enabling direct-to-destination flights, minimising net travel distances.

  • Relieving the need for secondary and often tertiary surface transports their related infrastructure.

  • Opening new routes and destinations while leaving trees standing and the natural environment pristine.

  • Taking all types of footprint including noise away from populations.

With the use of zero-emission power systems and the Ocean work efficiency advantages in relation to conventionally hulled seaplanes, these put the Ocean seaplanes above and ahead in terms of positive through-life environmental implications.
